Multi award winning Pooley Wines are available through our cellar door at the historic Belmont Lodge at Richmond, by mail order through this web site, or from selected suppliers.

Three generations of the Pooley family are actively involved in the business. Their longstanding passion and commitment to fine wine are your assurance of uncompromising quality.

Belmont Lodge

Country Houses of Tasmania

Belmont Lodge – a fine two storey Georgian stone house – was built in 1832 by a Hobart wine dealer, Benjamin Guy.

A book of the finest private colonial estates in Tasmania, by Alice Bennett and Georgia Warner, was published in 2009. Belmont Lodge is one of the 26 properties featured.

with Top Gold and Trophy from
the 2009 Rutherglen Wine Show

Our 2007 Pooley Coal River Pinot Noir won Top Gold and Trophy at the 121st Rutherglen Wine Show held late last year in Victoria. The award was for Best Australian Dry Red Wine (Pinot Noir), beating 48 other Australian and Tasmanian pinot noirs.

This same wine was also awarded Top Tasmanian Pinot Noir in Winestate magazine’s Best Regional for 2009, scoring 5 stars. James Halliday rates this same wine 94/100 in his 2010 Companion (5 stars) and described it as “a complex offering of savoury, spicy, forestry aromas and flavours along with ripe red fruits. Good mouth feel and length.”

Our supply of this wine is very limited owing to late frost in October 2006.

Pooley 2008 Coal River Riesling
“... tremendously powerful and energetic, with pronounced lemon-lime juice aromas and flavours, a lick of sweetness and a very clean, refined yet softly seamless palate ...
it has that x-factor-deliciousness.”
