ANOTHER FIRST FOR TASSIE
Pooley Wines has become the first Tasmanian vineyard to achieve certification under EntWine Australia, the national wine industry’s environmental assurance program.
Environmental Vineyard Certification
Using the Freshcare Environmental Vineyard certification program, we went through a rigorous program of training, documenting and monitoring activities and conditions around the vineyard. The company was independently audited in July 2013 and has since achieved certification and full membership of EntWine Australia.
“When we test our soils, we don’t just look at nutrient and structure. We also test our soil biology to make sure that we have healthy, living soils that are so important for strong vines and great wines. We continue to work to control weeds, including African Boxthorn and Willows, and have replanted native species in designated reserve areas on our property.
“Pooley Wines is a family business, and protecting the environment that we operate in will make sure that we keep both our business and our vines in peak condition for the next generation of Pooleys.”
