2017 ‘JRD’ Syrah
Wine Club Member Price $93.50
Sourced from a very small block of Syrah planted at Cooinda Vale Estate & named after the second generation Pooley’JRD’ John Roy Denis Pooley
This wine is closer to a Northern Rhone counterpart rather than an Australian Shiraz, but don’t let that fool you it has a level of intensity and complexity rarely seen across Tasmania.
Exuding an intense white pepper spice over the nose that softens to show the bright bramble fruits. The complexity keeps evolving with every sniff, showing eucalypt, cloves, vanilla, fennel and charred wood. The flavour is just as strong with an added vibrancy of red fruit from the lifted acid levels across the palate very long ceder oak finish with the white pepper lingering.
Even though this wine is enjoyable while young it will keep developing for 10+ years.
Production 850 bottles only.
