Coal River Valley

Perfumed notes of dark cherry, kirsch, forest fruits, and confected strawberry on the nose. On the palate, red fruits carry through with further notes of subtle dried herbs, cinnamon, aniseed and cedar spice. Soft tannins, supple fruits and freshness are all tell-tale signs of a long future ahead.

Dry

A warm, dry start to the growing season with September and October rainfall well below average, and maximum temperatures generally above average. This was followed by warm dry conditions through summer with some areas of the south receiving their warmest summer on record. February saw some reprieve from the heat with a touch of rain to freshen up canopies.

Fruit sourced from Butcher’s Hill, Cooinda Vale and select vineyards from the Coal River Valley.

Fruit was destemmed predominantly with the inclusion of 15% whole bunches. A clonal selection of D2V5, Abel, Pommard, 777, MV6

93 Points, The Real Review
93 / 100
Medium to deep ruby-red colour into a purple tinted rim. Dark cherry, damp leaves and karkalla aromatics. Those dark cherries reverberate on the palate as well, time shows some spices and seaside herbal notes lingering underneath. Acidity darts in and out until a firm tannic profile takes the reins and pushes it to a long and dry finish. Time is on your side with this wine.
